The Yachtmaster Theory is an essential part of gaining your qualification. The course covers all areas of the syllabus required for candidates to go on to do their Yachtsmaster practical examination.
The preparation course is run over 5 days which can be taken in one go or at your convenience. Our instructor team will be able to guide your decision as to whether you should attempt the RYA Yachtmaster Coastal or RYA Yachtmaster Offshore exam. The RYA Yachtmaster Scheme Syllabus and Logbook (G158/15) is a good guide for you to assess which skills you require brushing up on.
Prior the prep course, we advise that read the exam syllabus and give yourself an honest appraisal of your strengths and weaknesses. We will then tailor our programme to your needs.
The course goes into more detail than the Day Skipper theory and includes additional focus on safety and meteorology. You will be asked at the end of the period to create a passage appraisal and sit timed written examinations.
Once you have completed the examination, you will have the tools to take on the practical examination if all the prerequisites have been met.
