RYA Coastal Skipper Practical Motor Cruising Course

Service Description

Course hours: 9am–5pm each day. This course A five-day practical course developing the skills required to skipper a motor cruiser safely on coastal passages by day and night. Required experience 15 days on board, including 2 days as skipper, 300 miles and 8 night hours. Boat handling should be to RYA Day Skipper Practical Motor Cruising standard, with navigation knowledge to RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Theory standard. Minimum duration 5 days Minimum age 17 Content Passage planning, preparation for sea, pilotage, passage making and ability as a skipper, radar, boat handling, adverse weather conditions and emergency situations. Certificate issuing criteria Able to skipper a motor cruiser on coastal passages by day and night. By the end of the course you should be ready to build on your experience and work towards a Certificate of Competence.
