The RYA Day Skipper Theory course is the essential shorebased qualification for anyone wishing to skipper a sailing yacht or motor cruiser safely in familiar coastal waters by day. Whether you are planning to complete the RYA Day Skipper Practical course or simply wish to improve your boating knowledge, this comprehensive course provides the theoretical foundation for safe and confident boating.

Classroom Course – £895
Our classroom course is delivered over approximately 40 hours by experienced professional mariners and RYA instructors. Small class sizes allow for individual tuition, practical chartwork exercises and real-life examples drawn from extensive commercial and recreational boating experience.

Certificate issuing criteria
Successful candidates receive the RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Course Certificate. This qualification provides the theoretical knowledge required before progressing to the RYA Day Skipper Practical course and is the recommended stepping stone towards the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore Theory course.
